When an invoice has Stripe payments turned on, your client can pay in a few clicks without creating an account.
What your client does
- Opens your invoice email and clicks Pay with Card or Pay with Bank. Both buttons are also listed on the online invoice.
- Lands on a secure Stripe checkout page.
- Enters payment details and completes payment.
- Redirected to the online invoice which now shows a status of Paid for card payments or Pending ACH payments. The Pending status will switch to Paid once funds are received into your Stripe account (usually 1-3 days).
What happens in CollegePlannerPro
- Card and digital wallet payments: the invoice is marked Paid and the payment is recorded right away.
- Bank (ACH) payments: the invoice shows a pending payment until the bank transfer clears, usually a few business days. See ACH bank payments and the Pending status.
- If you've turned on payment notification emails, your client also gets your payment-received email. See How do I set my invoice defaults?
The payment appears in the invoice's Invoice Autobiography and on the Payments Received report.
If a payment is declined
The client sees the decline on the checkout page and can try another card or method. The invoice stays unpaid.
