The Account Owner connects Stripe from the Add/Remove Modules page. The setup form opens inside CollegePlannerPro and takes about 10 minutes.
Before you start
- Only the Account Owner can connect Stripe. Sub-account users will not see this option.
- Turn on the Billing & Invoicing module first. Until it's on, the Stripe option is greyed out. See How do I disable or enable the Billing & Invoicing module?
- Have your legal business name, EIN or SSN, business address, and bank routing and account numbers ready.
Connect your account
- Click the Profile icon in the top-right header.
- Select Add/Remove Modules in the left-hand menu.
- In the Billing & Invoicing box, click Connect with Stripe.
- A Stripe pop-up opens where you can connect a previously created Stripe account OR create a new account which will populated Stripe's onboarding form inside CollegePlannerPro.
- Enter your business, identity, and bank details and submit.
Connection statuses
| Status shown | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not connected | Stripe hasn't been set up yet. |
| Stripe is verifying your account | You've submitted your details and Stripe is reviewing them. This usually takes a few minutes but can take longer if Stripe needs more information. |
| Connected | You're ready to accept payments. |
If you didn't finish setup
If you leave the form partway through, return to Add/Remove Modules and click the Stripe button again. You'll pick up where you left off.
Already have a Stripe account?
You can sign in with an email that already has a Stripe account. Stripe will create a separate connected account for CollegePlannerPro which you can access through your normal Stripe login. If you briefly see "Finish in Stripe" right after setup, refresh the page after a minute.
Disconnecting Stripe
On the Add/Remove Modules page, use the disconnect option on the Stripe tile. This stops new online payments in CollegePlannerPro. Your Stripe account stays open, and you can still log in to Stripe directly to view past payments and payouts. You can reconnect at any time.
Note: If Stripe asks for more information later (for example, after your first payouts), you'll get an email from Stripe. Respond promptly so payouts aren't paused.
