Once Stripe is connected, every invoice has a Stripe payments switch. It's on by default, and you can turn it off for any client who pays another way.
Turn it on or off
- Create a new invoice, or open an existing invoice and click Edit Invoice.
- Find the Stripe payments switch at the top right of the invoice creation screen.
- Leave it on to add a payment link, or turn it off for a manual-pay invoice.
- Click Save Invoice.
When the switch is on, a payment link is added to the invoice so your client can pay by card, digital wallet, or bank transfer, based on the payment methods set up in your Stripe account. Payments are recorded against the invoice automatically.
What your client sees
| Switch | Online invoice | Invoice email |
|---|---|---|
| On | Pay now button | Pay now buttons added automatically at the bottom of the email |
| Off | No payment button | No payment button |
Turning it off after you've sent the invoice
The Pay now button disappears from the online invoice. If your client clicks the button in an email you already sent, they'll see the standard invoice instead of the checkout page.
