Resetting Verified Deadlines and Clearing Custom Deadline Field Values

CollegePlannerPro allows users to verify deadlines by clicking a checkmark next to the deadline to confirm that they have checked the deadline, and that it is accurate. Should CollegePlannerPro then update the deadline for that school, your deadline will not be overwritten during an import of new and updated deadlines. This ability is important during the busy summer application season when colleges are updating deadlines for the new application cycle and you want to confirm the deadlines that have already been reviewed. However, verifications also prevent new application deadlines prom populating during the next application cycle if they are not cleared out before import. 

Therefore, we have a tool that allows you to bulk clear out your verified deadlines before importing the new deadline updates that we provide. We also have the ability to clear out the actual deadline values from your custom date fields to make it easier to update these fields for the new application cycle as well.

Note that for deadlines provided by CollegePlannerPro, when you reset a Verified Deadline, it does not remove the date from the field; it simply removes the green verified checkmark. Importing new college deadlines will then update the field, if an update is available. 

While we will not clear dates from deadline fields that we have provided, we have added the ability to remove the date values in your custom deadline field types. This way, if you are starting fresh for a new application cycle, you do not have deadlines lingering from previous years in the custom date fields. 

For multi-user accounts: If your team is working at different speeds and you want to ensure that no one is resetting verified deadlines or custom date fields after another team member has started verifying and updating the fields for this year, update team verification permissions using the guidance in Deadline Import Controls In Multi-User Accounts.

How to Reset Verified Deadlines

1. Go to Colleges → Manage Application Deadlines → Reset Verified Deadlines
   
2. A Pop-up will open on the page verifying that you would like to take this action. This pop-up includes an image showing what fields will be affected based on your actions.
   
   1. The Default selection in the dropdown is "Clear Verified CollegePlannerPro Deadlines" Selecting this option will only remove the verified checkmark from deadlines provided by CollegePlannerPro; it will not perform any other action.
   2. For all of the other options, the Verified checkmark will be removed for the CollegePlannerPro-provided deadline types, AND the actual date values will be removed from either all or some of the custom date fields you have created, based on your choice:
      1. Clear All Custom Deadlines (Ignore Verified Status) will clear all of the dates in your custom deadline fields, regardless of the verified status.
      2. Clear Unverified Custom Deadlines will clear dates from custom date fields only if the verified checkmark is unchecked.
      3. Clear Verified Custom Deadlines will clear dates from custom date fields only if the verified checkmark is checked.
3. Select your option from the dropdown, and click "Reset Verified Deadline Indicators"
4. Confirm your selection in the next pop-up that appears.
5. Your selection will now be completed; go on to Import New Deadlines if that is your goal.
