How to turn on/off the student Conversation feature

The student Conversation feature can be turned on and off by default for any new students that are added to the platform, and/or for specific students on an individual basis.

Adjusting the default Conversation setting

To set whether Conversations are on or off by default for any new students added to the platform, head to the "My Settings & Preferences" page, accessible from the Dashboard tab. (Please note that if you are a member of a multi-consultant account, only the Account Owner has access to this setting.)

Under the "Student CustomCollegePlan Settings" section, you may toggle the "By default students may not access the conversations feature in CustomCollegePlan" setting on or off.

Toggling this setting "On" means that by default, the Conversation feature will be unavailable to all new students added to the platform moving forward. (Note that changing this setting will not retroactively change existing student settings.)

For Teams: The default setting the Account Owner selects will apply to all students added to the account, regardless of who adds the student and who the student is assigned to.

Conversation settings may be altered on a per-student basis, regardless of the default settings. Read below for more information.

How to turn Conversations on/off for individual students

1. To turn Conversations on or off for a specific student, click on "Account settings" in the "CustomCollegePlan.com Student Access" section.
   
2. "Student Conversation status" will appear at the top of the list of options (see below for more information on who has access to this setting)
   

Notes:

• • Toggling this setting on/off will impact both the student as well as any consultants assigned to the student (primary or secondary consultants).
  • Once a change to this setting has been made, you may optionally apply the same change to all of your assigned students of the same graduating year:
    
• In order to view the "CustomCollegePlan.com Student Access" section, a valid email address must be added to the student profile.

• The following individuals can alter the Conversation setting for a student:

  • The Account Owner
  • The assigned Primary Consultant (multi-consultant accounts only)

  All other users must contact either the Primary Consultant or the Account Owner to alter conversations settings for a specific student.
