The student Conversation feature can be enabled or disabled by default for any new students and parents added to the platform. Otherwise, you can control this on an individual level.
Adjusting the default Conversation setting (Please note that if you are a member of a multi-consultant account, only the Account Owner has access to this setting)
- From your account, select the "Settings" icon
in the top right header to be redirected to your “Settings & Preferences" page
- Select “Student & Parent Settings” in the left-hand side menu
- In the CustomCollegePlan Account Settings section, you have the option to enable or disable students' and/or parents' access to the conversations feature
- All changes are automatically saved
Enabling this setting means that by default, the Conversation feature will be available to all new students and/or parents added to the platform moving forward. Changing this setting will not retroactively change existing student settings.
For Teams: The default setting the Account Owner selects will apply to all students and parents added to the account, regardless of who adds the student and who the student is assigned to. |
How to turn Conversations on/off for individual students and parents
Conversation settings may be altered on a per-student and parent basis, regardless of the default settings.
- To turn Conversations on or off for a specific student and/or their parent(s), click on "Account settings" in the "CustomCollegePlan Student/Parent Access" section.
- "Student Conversation status" will appear at the top of the list of options (see below for more information on who has access to this setting). Further down the list, you will find the parents' visibility setting (read-only).
Notes:
- Toggling this setting on/off will impact both the student as well as any consultants assigned to the student (primary or secondary consultants).
- Once a change to this setting has been made, you may optionally apply the same change to all of your assigned students of the same graduating year:
- In order to view the "CustomCollegePlan Student/Parent Access" section, a valid email address must be added to the student profile.
-
The following individuals can alter the Conversation setting for a student:
- The Account Owner
- The assigned Primary Consultant (multi-consultant accounts only)
All other users must contact either the Primary Consultant or the Account Owner to alter the Conversations settings for a specific student.
