How can I use Prompt and Athena together?
This guide walks you through the process of pulling a student's essay draft from Prompt’s application management system, using Athena AI to generate and review feedback, exporting it back into a shared Google Doc for your student, and resubmitting the feedback through Prompt’s portal.
Step 1: Set Up Your Google Doc Shortcut Through Prompt
Before using Athena AI, you must ensure it has permission to export feedback directly to your student's Google Doc.
- Navigate to Prompt: Select your student, find the specific essay draft you want to revise, and click Continue Feedback.
- Open Feedback Google Doc: Click on the link to open the student's feedback document in Google Docs.
- Add Shortcut to Drive: Inside Google Docs, click on Add shortcut to Drive.
⚠️ Important: This step is required for Athena functionality. It grants the AI the ability to export your finalized feedback back into the document.
- Organize the Shortcut: Select the specific Google Drive folder where you want to place the shortcut. We recommend adding it directly to your student's dedicated folder.
- Copy the Draft: Highlight and copy the student's current essay draft to your clipboard.
Step 2: Generate Feedback in Athena AI
Once the draft is copied and the document shortcut is created, you are ready to generate your revision notes.
- Navigate to Athena AI: Open the Athena platform.
- Select Essay Category: Click on the specific type of writing you are currently revising (Common App, Supplemental, or Activities List)
- Create an Entry: Click on Add a New Essay Idea.
- Paste the Essay: Paste the student's draft from your clipboard into the text box.
- Run the AI Review: Click on Review.
- Edit the Output: Select, refine, and edit the generated feedback as you see fit to match your coaching style.
Step 3: Export and Submit
The final phase pushes your edited critique back into your main workflow.
- Initiate Export: Click on Export within Athena AI.
- Link the Document: Click Add from Google Drive, select the document containing your student's most recent draft, and click Select.
- Finalize Export: Click Export once more to send the feedback text directly into the Google Doc. Feel free to make any final polishes inside the document itself.
- Share with Student: Send the updated Google Doc feedback link back to your student.
- Submit the Task: Navigate back to the Prompt dashboard and click SUBMIT to mark the review as complete.
