Occasionally an update to CollegePlannerPro will not show for our users immediately. If it is imperative that you see the update right away, there are three types of actions what help:
- Complete a Hard Refresh of the Page
- Clear the site Cache (Cookies)
- Update your pin for CollegePlannerPro or saved homepage
Below we'll share steps on how to complete each of these actions. The first two actions should be completed with CollegePlannerPro open in your browser window.
Complete a Hard Refresh
- On a Windows PC, there are three methods to perform a hard refresh, depending on your keyboard configuration:
- Hold Ctrl and click the Reload button,
- Simultaneously click Ctrl + F5
- Simultaneously click Ctrl + Shift + R
- On a Mac, there are two options depending on your browser:
- Chrome, Firefox, Edge -- Use Command + Shift + R
- Safari -- Command + Option + E followed by Command + R
Clear the Site Cache
Clearing the cache for just one site is different that clearing your cache/cookies across the browser. This will not affect saved passwords or other data saved through your browser settings, only your cached pages in CollegePlannerPro (your password with us is still saved through your browser or your password keeper, not in the CollegePlannerPro web app).
- To clear the cache for a specific site in Chrome, click the tune/lock icon next to the URL, select Cookies and site data, click Manage on-device site data, and then click the trash icon next to the site.
- To clear the cache for one specific site in Safari on Mac, go to Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, search for the site, and click Remove.
- To clear the cache for a single site in Firefox, click the padlock icon in the address bar, select Clear cookies and site data, and click Remove. Alternatively, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage Data, search for the site, and select Remove Selected.
Updating Your Pin or Saved Homepage
This action is unlikely to be necessary, but we have experienced some rare cases where the saved version in the Pin or the Saved Homepage persists even after an update has been made. In these instances, simply remove the pin or reference to CollegePlannerPro as your homepage. Perform the hard refresh and/or clear your cache. If you are now seeing the expected version of the application, add the pin/homepage back and you should be good to go!
